Ashton Roofing & Building Construction

This was the second job carried out by Ashton Roofing. They arrived at the arranged time and they were super efficient carrying out the work. All the rubbish was removed at the end of the work as well. I can highly recommend them for roofing, guttering, soffits and facias and for installing steel lintels above doorways.

I initially called Ged to looks at leaks in our soffits - a check of the roof pitch and existing tile design was identified as being technically problematic and hence a 35 year old roof needed to be replaced. Ged and team provided a full and detailed quotation/work specification. I was pleased to note that work I suggested doing was discussed but was not necessary. There was no price hiking. The planned work date was kept to schedule (despite a February commencement date), all materials, scaffolding etc was on time. The team worked efficiently to get the job done and I was pleased to see the site tidied as much as reasonable at the end of each day during the works. Ged called during the work to do periodic inspection and to answer any queries we had. A thorough snagging process took place with quick responses to any problems identified. A £1K retainer was provided for by Ged until we were happy with the work. The work involved removing solar panels and another firm supplied and fitted replacements, using the scaffolding already in place. To sum up: honest, decent, knowledgeable, reliable.

I wanted to have a replacement of ageing fascia, soffits and guttering with a reliable UPvC system, the big draw being the thought of no maintenance in the years to come. I have been let down by roofers before, who have promised to come-and two years later I'm still waiting! This is definitely not the case with Ashton Roofing and Building construction. Ringing their number, I immediately felt a difference. I was given a time and date for an inspection of the guttering. This was carried out as promised. A very full report and costing followed and there was always someone on the end of the phone if I had questions. Work was carried out on the date given and the men who came were pleasant even though the weather for part of the time certainly wasn't. They carried out the work requested and cleared up after, even managing not to damage any plants in the garden, although it must have been a bit difficult to avoid them. The end result looks great, looks exactly like what was there before but no peeling paint and potentially rotting wood in years to come. I have no hesitation in recommending Ashton Roofing and Building construction if you want a company that does what it promises to do.

I have to disagree with the other reviews in our case as our experience was not good at al. Dan originally provided a quote for our roof which was in line with other quotes we received from 3 other companies. Other companies said it would take around 7-8 days at the most with 2-3 men on the job so the quote was in line with that. Just before we were due to pay the deposit for materials (which other companies didn't ask for out of interest) Dan visited the property again, followed by a call to say he had forgotten to add the labour charge onto his quote? We found this odd as we knew how much the materials were as he had provided a breakdown so we knew that there was a few thousand pounds added onto the quote for the materials which could only have been the labour. When we received the new quote I was speechless. The quote had more than doubled and the labour cost alone was absurd and more than the entire original quote. He told me it would take 4 men 3 full weeks to do our roof which is ridiculous - I had to remind him that he was only actually doing our roof and not our surrounding neighbours. So disappointed and completely shocked at what they were trying to charge us for the labour - the materials were in line with other roofing companies. Never ever recommend them!!!!

We asked Dan to quote for the above and immediately felt comfortable with his knowledge, timescales and importantly the cost. The work was carried out as scheduled by 3 roofers who worked tirelessly on what must be the 3 hottest days of the year so far, so hats off to them all. Dan called after to check all was ok and were we pleased with the work carried out. Suffice to say we were well pleased. All rubbish was cleared away and property left tidy. I would recommend this company and would use them again in the future if need be.

The company undertook fascia and porch work for The Management Company on the development where I live. I asked for additional personal work by way of balcony floor replacement with a edpm waterproof floor which was completed most satisfactorily yesterday. Excellent, tidy work.

Fully satisfied with the professionalism of the company from start to finish. Always someone available in office for any questions. We were involved in the planning. Installation was on time. The team were friendly, hard working and no bother. Cleared up at the end of each day. Despite the necessary hammering on the rafters and installation of required insulation in attic, there was no damage to any interior decoration in the house. The roof looks first class now. I recommend Ashton Roofing.

I am highly delighted with the work undertaken by this company, namely a new roof, facia, gutterings and downspouts. When they came out to provide a quote they were extremely helpful and gave me a written contract that outlined all of the work we had agreed on, it was detailed and thorough and they came on the agreed date to commence the work, subject to weather conditions - that was the only proviso listed in the contract at the time of writing it. All of the men that came out to remove and install all of the items listed in the contract, were really professional, good and nothing was too much trouble for them to do. The work was checked regularly by the managers of the company and I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to have them install any of the items listed in this review. I recently had Ashton Roofing repoint my chimney and fix some lead flashing issues. I can't recommend them enough! From the very beginning, communication was excellent. They were always easy to reach by phone and email, and they answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. The two workers who arrived on the job site were punctual and professional. Contacted Ashton Roofing in May 2024, had date agreed within a few days of Dan having a look at what we wanted. Arrived promptly and the communication was excellent. The fitter worked almost non stop and we were very pleased with our new window - looks amazing. Would definitely recommend Ashton Roofing to anyone in need of this kind of work.

From first contact, I found Dan to be friendly, knowledgeable, professional and customer-focussed. The finished roof was top-class and Dan recommended a colour of tile that really suited our house and blended well with our neighbour’s roof colour. Work started on the indicated date and the roof was finished within the week. There was a small hiccup in getting the skip delivered and removed but this was mainly down to the skip hire company. The crew were friendly, conscientious and cleaned up at the end of the day. Ashton Roofing complies with the requirements of our local authority regarding loft insulation and the level of insulation in place. One negative to this was a little confusion over the all-in price at the time of signing the contract and at payment time. The overall cost was a little higher than I envisaged when starting this project but there is no doubting the quality that I have received. I would definitely use Ashton Roofing again and would recommend their services to other customers

I had my veloux windows replaced. The team from Ashton roofing were pleasant friendly and they work very tidy. The old windows and any rubbish was taken away. I would use Ashton roofing in future if i needed work done on my roof.

Quote supplied by Dan who detailed work to be done and materials to be used. Roof then replaced over two days by team from Ashton roofing, arrived on time, explained work to be carried out, got on with the job and left everything clean and tidy. Price paid was as quoted. I have used this company several times and always find them to be knowledgeable, reliable, punctual and polite, I definitely recommend them.

Ashton Roofing successfully replaced leaking flat roofs over the bay windows at front of my house in March 2024. I had no hesitation in recalling them for similar repairs at the rear of house following storm Lilian 7 months later(November 2024). So far, both repairs have withstood the test of time. Communication with the team was excellent - from first contact & throughout the work in progress. During their 2nd visit they also cleared my gutters, fixed wobbling downpipes, and repositioned hedgehog segments in the gutters. Professional at all times, respected our property in terms of mess not only cleaning as they go but also cleaned up at the end of every day so we still had a liveable condition rather than a building site. The team/ lads did not hang about, they grafted from the second they arrived to second they left. I had contacted two other roofing companies without a reply before phoning Ashton Roofing & Building. Patrick answered my phone call and within minutes of describing a problem with my chimney and gutter he already knew the remedy. He sent someone to survey the problem the very next day and a date was sorted for the work. The team turned up on time, built scaffold tower and did an excellent job. A very professional and prompt service, as a tradesman myself (electrician) I highly recommended this company.

I have recently used Ashton Roofing for repair work to my roof and kitchen gutter after searching on Which Trusted Traders. They arrived when they said they would (always a plus in my books) and any issues which cropped up were dealt with quickly and satisfactorily (another plus). I would recommend this company.
