Highlights

"Dan spent 5 weeks bringing our garden redesign project to life, and the results were stunning. Very friendly guy, expert at what he does, and even made suggestions to improve our overall plan where appropriate. He has excellent taste, is detail driven and produced a high-end finish. Exactly what we wanted. Work included: Terracing and levelling the garden; Building walls and stairs; Laying patios (with a bespoke designed path); Planting trees (including moving two large olives); Laying grass; Building an aluminium pergola. Organising electrician for outdoor electric works."

"All the work was carried out to an extremely high standard. The work was discussed beforehand highlighting the various issues we needed consider and a plan agreed on. Both Dan and his young apprentice were extremely courteous and considerate and completed the work in a timely manner. He has a long waiting list but it was worth the wait for a top job."

Before you hire a builder

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
