Highlights

"Came out to do emergency repairs on our boiler on Christmas eve, even though not our usual plumber. Got us thorough Christmas, then gave us further options for repair and a reasonable quote for a range of new boilers. Fitted the boiler we wanted in a confined space and took professional pride in tidying existing pipework to leave us in a better situation than previously. Work carried out carefully and precisely, and always left house tidy when leaving. Will be using HeatOn in the future."

"The cistern in our upstairs toilet developed a serious leak at the end of last year, which Mo from Heaton Plumbing quickly sorted out for us. He made a temporary repair but we agreed with him that it would be sensible to replace the cistern - and that it was time for a new loo as well. Following Mo's advice, we ordered a WC and concealed cistern from Victorian Plumbing. Mo has now installed these, boxed in some ugly old pipework, relaid the floor properly with ply and new vinyl, and sealed all edges. He's done a marvellous job and we're absolutely delighted with our new toilet."

Smart checks

Before you hire a gas engineer

By law, anyone working on your gas appliances must be on the Gas Safe Register — ask to see their Gas Safe ID card and check the licence number at gassaferegister.co.uk before they start.
Never let an unregistered person touch your gas: unsafe gas work risks carbon monoxide poisoning, fire and explosion, and is a criminal offence.
For a boiler or appliance install, get the work and price in writing and keep the Gas Safe / Building Regulations certificate they are required to give you.
Confirm they cover your area and can actually come out in your timeframe before anything else.
Read recent reviews for reliability and turning up on time — not only the quality of the work.
