Highlights

"Ivan proved to be thoroughly professional and efficient in not only finding the faulty electrical device (main consumer board) which was seriously compromising my heating system, but also managed to get it working due to a fuseway switch to a spare! Ivan left me in no doubt that the mcb should be replaced asap. This was duly done within 3 days. I was simply well impressed with his very expert advice and opinions and would not hesitate to contact this company again if required. It goes without saying that I would certainly highly recommend Ivan Fairless Electricals to anyone!"

"We'd made an absolute mess of our shower switch and needed to replace it, didn't want to mess it up again. Heard back after the weekend and came to sort us out the afternoon of the same day. Very happy with the speed and quality"

"I was struggling to find someone to install a PIV unit in a rental flat, basically a small fan that blows air in rather than extracts it out, this involved drilling a core hole through the outside wall, not a nice job, the couple of quotes I'd had for the job were way over my budget at £1600 and £1300. Ivan came to give a quote and came in at half that price and also supplied and installed a new kitchen light and a new socket. The work took much longer than expected due to a badly placed wall tie but they stuck with it and got everything done in the one day. They will now be my go to people."

Before you hire an electrician

In England and Wales, notifiable electrical work (new circuits, a consumer unit, anything in a bathroom or kitchen) must by law be signed off under Part P of the Building Regulations — confirm they will handle that.
Prefer an electrician registered with a government-approved competent-person scheme (NICEIC, NAPIT or ELECSA) so they can self-certify the work meets the wiring regulations.
Insist on the Electrical Installation Certificate (or Minor Works Certificate) when the job is done — it is your proof the work is safe and compliant, and you will need it if you ever sell.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
