Highlights

"Fantastic work carried out by these guys; had all of my guttering / down pipes / fascia’s etc all replaced; there was quite a lot to get done and I really needed it all done on a tight schedule of which they were more than willing to help achieve. Great work; friendly service recommend these guys to anyone!"

"Within five minutes of me booking an appointment Arthur contacted me and we quickly established I needed work completed urgently. He arranged for his men to come early (at a rather ungodly hour) so I could work uninterrupted. But the time I needed to start work, I had photos of my roof, a complete understanding of what needed to be done and a quote and some lovely men working on my roof. The work was completed in a very timely manner and to a very high standard. I am so impressed and I cannot thank you all enough for your professionalism and kindness"

"From start to finish communication was good and fully informative, with everything confirmed in an email after discussing the work required. Had new membrane, battening & new tiles where needed fitted and repointing of chimney - despite the awful weather this was done quickly and with very little disruption. The guys doing the work were polite, considerate and cleared away all rubbish daily. The work was invoiced on completion."

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
