Highlights

"We wanted to create a kitchen diner and a downstairs toilet. We also had a few structural issues we were aware of but not sure of the problem. Jeremy gave us very helpful advice and produced the required drawings in a timely manner. He was always prompt to reply on email and happy to answer any questions we had. I would be highly recommend him. He was able to recommend relevant trades to help with what we needed and I never felt like I was being sold on getting something done that we didn't need. Would highly recommend."

"I needed some planning advice and Jeremy was more than willing to provide very useful information to help me with some confusing details. It also gave me the chance to have a reliable source for more advice relating to more possible development in the future."

"Jeremy provided an excellent design service to us for our bungalow extension. His attention to detail, problem solving (lots with our project!), knowledge of building standards, and general helpfulness were second to none. The design and drawings were of excellent quality, and he will make site visits and talk with the builders to iron out any issues during the build. Great value and good connections with trades, structural engineers, building control, etc. I can’t recommend him highly enough."

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
