"Jimmy came to quote for sealing in our windows and bolting cladding. He looked carefully and identified the problems, explaining everything clearly. He provided a quote in writing. Once the scaffolding was up, he and Jon looked at everything in more depth and explained the plan of action. The work was then completed by Jon who was excellent too, explaining what he was doing and showing me photos. They went over and above what was required - clearing a bit of guttering for a neighbour and checking our loft. I was really pleased with the work done and with how well it was organised."

Before you hire a builder
Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
