Detailed reviews

Rachael M1.0 / 5

Booked Kevin to fit 5 lights as he responded quickly to our request. He cancelled the first appointment due to a ‘family emergency’ but said he was keen to rebook. We explained we had no light in our kitchen so the job was urgent. He offered to come out Saturday morning so we cancelled our plans. He fitted two kitchen spotlights, one of which fell off after he’d left. He was unable to fit two lights due to the height of our ceilings and his inability to climb ladders, and the fact he works alone. Asked us for half the money and didn’t even offer to fit the third spotlight. Total waste of time.

Smart checks

Before you hire an electrician

In England and Wales, notifiable electrical work (new circuits, a consumer unit, anything in a bathroom or kitchen) must by law be signed off under Part P of the Building Regulations — confirm they will handle that.
Prefer an electrician registered with a government-approved competent-person scheme (NICEIC, NAPIT or ELECSA) so they can self-certify the work meets the wiring regulations.
Insist on the Electrical Installation Certificate (or Minor Works Certificate) when the job is done — it is your proof the work is safe and compliant, and you will need it if you ever sell.
Look for consistent reviews across several named sources, not one polished profile.
Check any verified credentials, and that the business details independently check out.
