Highlights

"Jason and his team carried out felt roof installation on my bay window roof. The work was carried out efficiently and looks good. Thank you"

AnonymousCheckatrade5.0 rating

"They made repairs to our roof including rebedding ridge tiles, repointing chimneys and other brickwork, replacing guttering and repainting sofis boards. They were efficient, communicative and thorough throughout. They were also friendly and pleasant to deal with. If a bit of work needed to be redone after inspection Jason was quick to point it out and happy to make the effort. The roof - which had a few leaks before hand now seems fine and I am happy that we will get 5-10 more years out of it."

"Jason and Paul are experienced builders. Jason's diagnosis of the leaking problem we had (chimney stack needed re-concreting) seemed to be based on his solid experience as a roofer. We have been through one winter, and so far good results (ie no further leaks)! Jason sorted the scaffolders , which had it's complications. There was a minor issue with a bit that was missed on a shed roof. When pointed this out they came back and finished the job to satisfaction. Both were very friendly and considerate."

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
