Highlights

"Excellent work by Pro Roof, who arranged the safe removal of old asbestos guttering from our garage before replacing with a new purpose-built alternative. The roof was then completely stripped back and the old felting and laths replaced with new. Communication throughout the project was excellent. Owen and his team worked hard throughout and cleaned and tided up at the end of each day."

"Will was easy to contact and followed up on messages within 24 hours. He gave us a start date which he kept to with his scaffolders turning up the week before and removing the scaffolding the following week. The cost for the work was competitive. He didn’t keep disappearing to do other jobs as some of his competitors who have worked in the area did. He kept us fully informed of what he was going to do. Working effectively and leaving the site clean and tidy. We would thoroughly recommend him."

"We had our whole roof replaced along with the fascias and soffits, as well as having our chimney repointed. Will and his guys did a great job and we were really pleased with the results. They were all very friendly, professional and trustworthy. Would definitely recommended to anyone."

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
