Highlights

"This is the third time we have used RA Leadworks (for leadworks round a bay window, retiling a garage roof and now replacing a split lead gulley) Each time, Roy has been excellent at all aspects of the work: assessing the causes of leaks, communication about the job, accurate quoting, efficient planning for spare tiles etc, excellent workmanship, tidying up and attending the job (with his equally helpful colleague) on the day and time specified. He is always courteous and it was a pleasure to do business with him. I would wholeheartedly recommend him."

"Roy previously carried out a porch roof repair for us, and after that experience, we didn’t hesitate to call him again when we needed a flat roof repair. Once again, he did an excellent job from start to finish. He is reliable, punctual, and clearly very knowledgeable about his work. He took the time to explain the issue with the flat roof, outlined the repair process, and made sure we were comfortable with everything before starting. The quality of his workmanship is outstanding — the repair has been completed to a very high standard and everything was left neat and tidy afterwards."

"Roy always goes the extra mile and even came out on a Sunday to fix my roof. Quick, efficient and a job well done. His quote was very reasonable too."

Before you hire a builder

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
