Highlights

"Charlie did a great job repointing our house with the minimum amount of mess, and was very punctual. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again or to recommend him."

AnonymousCheckatrade5.0 rating

"I needed internal brickwork replacing and repointed in our living room. Charlie and his colleague were nice to work with. Communication was good throughout, no hidden fees or additional works required so the final price as expected with all work carried out swiftly and offered some guidance on what was needed. Would use again if needed"

Failed to complete the job despite pretending to reassure me that he would and even ghosted me when I waited in all weekend for him to complete the brickwork job. I was told that he had taken on a bigger job and in order to complete the job I would need to pay an extra £150 to someone else ( which I refused). Poor communication, poor customer service. Still awaiting invoice as payment was made and have not received it or any apology. Shockingly bad, the small job did not warrant the same level of customer service as a bigger more profitable job

Before you hire a builder

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
