Highlights

"I employed Ruby Roofing / Danny to repoint and replace lose bricks in our very old chimney which he did to a fantastic standard he made sure the pots were set solidly on to the stack he releaded the base of the stack all to a very high standard he replaced any broken tiles which occurred as a result of the scaffolding at the end of the job, along with the tiles that also needed replacing due to years of weathering, he left the site in an immaculate state the only why you knew he'd been working on the roof was the exemplary chimney (best in the street) his Scaffolding team Neil, superb also"

"Danny from Ruby Roofing recently completely replaced my roof. The work was completed very efficiently to an extremely high standard and at a very competitive price. Danny is very particular about finishing a job to a high standard and won’t cut corners. I would not hesitate to recommend Ruby Roofing to anyone and I’m going to use them again myself for a couple of smaller jobs."

"Danny thoroughly explained the problems with existing flat roof (previously very poorly repaired by another company) and provided solutions, supported by photographs. Before proceeding with the agreed repairs, he discussed everything with us in detail. Danny and Johnny worked very hard all week in extremely hot weather. Everything was left clean and all rubbish removed. They were respectful to our and neighboring properties. Would definitely recommend Ruby Roofing."

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
