Highlights

"Tom and Kit arrived as agreed were efficient speedy and tidy. They took down the kitchen wall laid a new tiled floor installed two bathrooms and a new kitchen and fitted wardrobes. They were very conscientious and keen to create what we wanted to a high standard. I have no hesitation in recommending Tom for any household works and would be keen to ask him to do any future works that we may want."

"I was signposted to Tom by Bathroom Inspirations, Dorchester, which I knew would not tarnish its good reputation by recommending anybody other than an excellent bathroom fitter. When Tom first visited we also discussed my larger building aspirations; a complete reconfiguration of the upstairs of my home and installation of a new staircase which is now well underway, with me being very pleased with what has been done so far. Tom has a keen eye for detail, is very good at blending aesthetics and practicality, is very skilled and professional, has high integrity and is very courteous."

Before you hire a builder

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
