Highlights

"Martin was really prompt to respond and organise a call out for the next day. Ross who inspected the oven showed me exactly what was wrong with the oven and which elements were causing the tripping. I decided to replace the oven as it was 10 years old. Ross organised this straight away and was back the next day to install it. I couldn't have asked for better service."

"I registered with checkatrade and they forwarded my issue to Ist Call Aplliance Service. The next day I had a call from Ist Call and arranged for an engineer to come the following day. The engineer was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately my oven was beyond repair as it's very old. However, the engineer was able to offer to deliver and install a new oven and remove the old one. He called me soon after he left with a couple of options. The one I chose was out of stock but he said it would be back in stock next week. I'm now looking forward to getting a new oven next week."

Before you hire an electrician

In England and Wales, notifiable electrical work (new circuits, a consumer unit, anything in a bathroom or kitchen) must by law be signed off under Part P of the Building Regulations — confirm they will handle that.
Prefer an electrician registered with a government-approved competent-person scheme (NICEIC, NAPIT or ELECSA) so they can self-certify the work meets the wiring regulations.
Insist on the Electrical Installation Certificate (or Minor Works Certificate) when the job is done — it is your proof the work is safe and compliant, and you will need it if you ever sell.
Look for consistent reviews across several named sources, not one polished profile.
Check any verified credentials, and that the business details independently check out.
