Excellent tradesman. Reliable, punctual and completed the requested work smoothly without any problems and to a satisfactory standard.
Alan and his colleague plastered a large portion of my house and the finish was to a brilliant standard – I’m really pleased with the end result. However, there were some issues with organisation and timekeeping. He came alone the first day and left early, didn’t turn up the second day due to car trouble, and left early again on the third, leading to a late finish on the fourth. There was also a lot of mess left behind, some soft furnishings were ruined, and my bathroom light was broken. Overall, excellent workmanship but reliability and cleanliness could be improved.

Before you hire a plumber
Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top — in writing — before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced — get a second opinion and an itemised quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
Gas and boiler work is a separate, regulated trade — not general plumbing. Make sure anyone working on a gas appliance is specifically registered to do gas work, and ask to see that registration before they start.
Look for consistent reviews across several named sources, not one polished profile.
