"I can’t rate Cris and his team highly enough. We had them in earlier this year for a small job where some of our tiles had dislodged. Recently we’ve had them back for a leak in our gulley (fixed with the recent downpour) and to paint the apex of our house. Whilst there , I enquired about some blown bricks which they fixed and also added pigeon spikes for us as I was complaining about the noise! When they were on my neighbours roof, they noticed the gutter was blocked on our conservatory which they sorted for us without charging us as they saw it needed doing. Cris quoted a fair priced which he"

"Excellent work and very friendly. Did what he said he would do with no drama or hassle. Would definitely use again. The work was required following a burst pipe in the bathroom. Chris provided a quote swiftly in a form acceptable to the insurance company and was happy to keep in touch throughout the approval and drying out process to be able to slot our work in as soon as conditions allowed. Even came back to help us rehang a huge mirror once paintwork was dry!"

"They were very clean and thorough in their work , carried out extremely well. Communicated throughout the work time and were courteous and polite. Like many things were subject to the weather which was a cause of delay but out of their control. All in all a company that performed in an excelent manner and one I have no problems in recommending."

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Check the Architects Register
Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
