About

We specialise in creating visual tranquility. With over 35 years of experience, we have quietly been bringing a sense of calm and serenity to homes, interiors, furniture and products. This can only be achieved by a rigorous attention to detail, in the sculpting of space, in the choice of materials and the way they all come together. We know where every line in the design goes and what it meets along the way, we know how the sunlight will move through the space and how materials will behave over time. What results is a breath of fresh air, a quiet comfort, an escape from the daily noise and haste of our normal lives. This is our passion and we bring it to projects as small as a single chair to a 9,000ft house and everything in between. We've also brought this sense of calm to the process of building, successfully navigating complex problems with neighbours, rights to light, landlords, complex sites and local authorities. We have found routes through the planning maze that have allowed us to achieve a near 100% success rate with permissions for our clients. We've done this with listed buildings and in conservation areas, with tight urban sites and rural settings. Our clients range from people at the start of their careers and young families in the early stages of their property journey, to high net worth individuals with many properties working across multiple time zones. Some are extremely hands on, some only see the project electronically until near completion. In each case we listen to their needs, show them the route through the system, introduce them to unforeseen possibilities and deliver their project whether it is in London, the suburbs, village locations or indeed across Europe.

"Architect" is a title protected by law - only people on the official Architects Register (held by ARB) may use it. Confirm they're on it before you commission a design.

Smart checks

Before you hire an architect

Only someone on the Architects Registration Board (ARB) register may legally call themselves an 'architect' in the UK — ask for their ARB number and check it free at arb.org.uk. An 'architectural designer' or 'technologist' is a different, unregistered role (often capable, but not the same protection).
Agree how they charge before any work starts — a percentage of the build cost, a fixed fee, or an hourly rate — and exactly which stages it covers (concept design, planning application, building-regulations drawings, work on site), so there are no surprises later.
Confirm what they will actually handle versus what is excluded — the planning application, the building-control drawings, and whether they will administer the builder's contract on site — and get it, and a portfolio of similar projects, in writing.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
