"Edward was punctual, efficient and professional throughout. He talked us through the pros and cons of different driveway options and his estimate was very reasonable compared to others. The work was completed by Edward and his sons, exactly as stated and in the time frame given. We waited a month before reviewing as it's been so wet and rainy, but the drive looks great, water drains as predicted and we're really happy with it. He's even promised to come back with a bucket of grout when he's back in our area to repoint our old paving slabs in front of the front door. Definitely recommend."

Get an itemised quote that separates plants and materials, any machinery or skip hire, and labour — a vague 'garden makeover' lump sum hides where the money goes and makes extra charges easy to add later.
Be wary of paying a large sum up front 'for materials' — agree staged payments against work you can see completed, especially for hard landscaping like patios, decking, paving or driveways.
Tree work and anything near a boundary can be regulated — protected trees and conservation areas often need permission, and removing a protected tree can be an offence. Confirm what is allowed, and that they carry public-liability insurance, before work starts.
