Highlights

"Demolished existing patio and lawn. Replaced with a beautiful new patio, raised beds, path and steps. Then relayed part of the lawn which is in much better shape now. All work carried out to a high standard and James was always ready with advice and ideas when i was unsure what i wanted. Great work, great price."

"James has done several jobs for me over the years. His work is excellent and includes rebuilding a storm damaged brick wall plus a replacement patio. Both of which were brilliantly executed! He works tirelessly all day and is very tidy. I can't recommend him enough."

AnonymousCheckatrade5.0 rating

"We recently had the back of our bungalow extended, along with a full kitchen reconfiguration and relocating the drains, and we’re absolutely delighted with the result. James was punctual, diligent and incredibly hard-working, keeping everything well organised and running smoothly throughout. Friendly and approachable, he really listened to our needs and offered knowledgeable, practical advice. The workmanship and attention to detail are excellent, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend James to anyone looking for a reliable, skilled bricklayer."

Before you hire a builder

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
