Highlights

"I would highly recommend JK Carpentry. Jamie fitted an additional bannister in a very timely manner. He was easy to deal with, extremely trustworthy and did an excellent job, taking the time to make sure he matched the existing bannister."

"Jamie was on time respectful of my house and done the job within two days very happy"

"Our job was to fit kitchen counter tops following a recent kitchen upgrade. This included two cut outs, as well as cutting to size and finishing edges, etc. Originally arranged for Jamie to visit on a Wednesday, but this had to be rearranged on his part to the Sunday. However, this was not an issue as there was plenty of advanced warning. Jamie and his mate (who's name I did not get) arrived promptly as arranged. They set up and got straight to work, carrying out all the points discussed to a very high standard. Finished in a good time and left clean and tidy. Would highly recommend!"

Smart checks

Before you hire a builder

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work — and that they are current.
