I recently had a leak in my roof, and this company provided exceptional service from start to finish. They responded promptly, carried out the work efficiently, and ensured the job was completed to a high standard. Everything went smoothly, and I am extremely satisfied with the results. I received a call asking if they could come and look at the job as they had been contacted by checkatrade to do so. When the gent came out he asked me what I wanted. I said a quote to replace a porch and that I had seen one in a kit form that I liked. He refused to supply and fit the roof as they were rubbish and wouldn't last. He said for him to build one would cost me £12000.00 . I asked if he could write a quote for it and he refused saying he would only give a quote for a confirmed order as he did not want to waste the offices time. Needless to say he won't be getting my 12k

Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
