Lut was on time and very friendly. He has supplied and hung four doors for me in very challenging existing frames. The work has been carried out neatly and Lut was very tidy making sure to tidy up as he went. Excellent communication throughout and a nice person all round!
We had agreed some minor repairs and installation of skirting boards in three rooms as we have new carpet arriving soon. First the date was pushed back several times because he was apparently delayed by other work. Then when the final agreed date came he simply stopped responding to messages and refused to answer calls. We were left desperately trying to find another tradesman to do the skirting with only three days before our carpet installation date. If they'd cancelled with warning that would be one thing but the lack of communication was completely unacceptabe.

Before you hire a builder
Never pay a large deposit up front — agree a staged payment schedule tied to completed milestones, and hold a small retention until snagging is done.
Get it in writing: an itemised quote with scope, materials, start and finish dates, and how any changes (variations) will be priced.
Be wary of a cash-only price or pressure to start tomorrow — both are red flags for an unaccountable job.
Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
