Staunch and Flow Limited

Project Manager Lucian and his crew were commissioned by me to make good the ground and retile the front of our house. At all times they were considerate and used their time efficiently. Bad weather thwarted the build but they came back as soon as they could. The result is a beautifully tiled Victorian-style path (each tile laid individually). Initially, I thought the quote was expensive but when I saw the amount of work involved I revised my thinking. You definitely get the quality you pay for. 10/10.

Staunch & Flow helped my wife and me plan and carry out a complete renovation of our 1BR flat. This included stripping the bathroom and the kitchen 'down to the studs' and completely replacing them; also removing old built-in bedroom wardrobes, replacing most of the light fixtures, servicing the boiler and more. Sam helped us plan the project, choose the right fixtures and set a realistic budget. Even though we moved out of London for the project and were busy with our jobs, Lucian kept us involved using WhatsApp videos and photos. They really did a fine job, sticking to the timeline we had set and delivering the project on budget (apart from some changes that we agreed along the way). Even the inevitable bits of 'snagging' they have dealt with cheerfully and promptly. S&F are really great to work with, and we recommend them.

I have used Staunch & Flow for regular plumbing jobs for several years and they have always been reliable, knowledgeable and efficient. When I realised they also did building work I asked them to build a new bathroom at the top of the house by knocking through into the attic. The job required some engineering, building, plumbing, tiling and electric expertise and their builders were able to provide all these. The supervisor/surveyor was very pleasant and helpful and the foreman and 2 builders were just fantastic-very hard working, clean, reliable and helpful. They sent pictures and debriefed on a regular basis and the job was finished within 3 weeks, even though there was a good deal of structural and building work to do. The best thing about them is their willingness to address and solve problems-this is an old house and unexpected problems always arise. They would explain the issues, discuss them and suggest solutions. And they were always cheerful and pleasant even when things did not go according to plan!

I contacted ‘Staunch and Flow’ with a view to obtaining a quote for some plastering work. 'Staunch and Flow' replied to my enquiry, stating that they had someone available to visit the property and provide a quote, and that there would be an associated charge of £85 + VAT should I wish to arrange such. This was to be charged in advance of the tradesperson's visit, and would be refundable should I go on to instruct them to complete the associated works. I've never known any company/tradesperson to charge for the provision of a quote! None of the other 'Which Trusted Traders' I contacted requesting the same, attached any such associated charge! This, the fact that they required the money for doing so 'in advance', and that it would then be refundable should I instruct them further, seemed highly unusual to me. The refund element, to my mind, seems a ploy/tactic to ensure, or at least tip the balance in the company’s favour, as far as the consumer's likely selection of their company's services - as I imagine most people elect to acquire the quotes of at least 2-3 tradespeople before deciding upon who to proceed with; and if they are at least equally satisfied with this company's quote, or even perhaps slightly less satisfied, are likely to choose to instruct them, so as to get their money back. To me, the whole approach of this company in this instance, was cheeky, improper, and quite frankly dubious! Not an approach or words I would associate with a 'Trusted Trader'.

They gave a time of arrival and were on time, actually half an hour early! Solved my hot water issue. New part was required and not easily available but I knew a place not too far away. They went and got it and installed it very efficiently. I had made a earlier deposit and when the work was done paid the rest on the mobile phone of the plumber. The company emailed me the invoice immediately as fully paid. Outcome - very happy customer.
