Asked for a price to unblock the sink which was one of two jobs the other being to service the boiler. This plumber's answer to unblocking the sink was to put a strong alkaline fluid down the drain. He then left and said would be clear in the morning which it wasn't. Contacted him on several occasions to say the sink was still blocked but always had an excuse why he couldn't come back to finish the job. Will never use this plumber again.

Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top — in writing — before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
